Did you ever wonder if there were angels among us?
I do, all the time. I have to say though, my question has been answered more than once. Over and over again, the goodness in mankind has proven the reality of wings – regardless of my ability to see them flutter.
I don’t watch the news much, because the stories are so sad. Every once in a while, I will tune in, but the problem is that I am so visual, my imagination starts creating horrid scenes from the reports that keep me in a restless state of sleep all night. I tell Jon that “there is nothing good on the news”. Because of this, he makes sure to call my name and summons me over to the T.V. when he finds a story that is uplifting and happy.
This happened last night.
I was almost asleep at 11:45 p.m. when it came, “Janae! Janae!! Are you awake?” he whispered loudly, which sounds like a yell to anyone that hasn’t shot too many guns or turned the radio to level 10 for their whole life. “WHAT, Yes, now I am awake.”
Look at THIS!!
Do you see now why I started crying? Do you see why once again, I am sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that there ARE indeed angels among us? You see, we are the angels. We are the ones that bring happiness, faith, hope, charity, and love to each other. I love giving service, but to be on the other side of the service is breathtaking. You see, the “Carter” he mentions, is my nephew. He is the one we pray for every night at dinner as a family. He is the one that my brother has slept with in the hospital by his side for countless nights, and then gone to work the next day as his wife is at home with their baby. He is the one that was dancing around the family room last night with Halle and all the other grand kids.
My friends. Find someone to be an angel for. This man has changed my life forever. I can truly say that the spirit of Christmas is in my heart now, and forever. It has taught me that the service I do, really affects people. If you live anywhere near this house, take a ride over, and let them know that your friend is Carter. Drop a dollar in the “make a wish” donation box. Hopefully we can surpass his goal of $5,000 and send one or two more kids to Disney World that wouldn’t get there any other way. Tomorrow I will put a link on my blog to donate money online. I know there are many of you out there that can’t visit this house of lights, but that still want to give! Come back tomorrow!
Today I choose to believe in people. Although there is bad all around us, the good will always outweigh. If we decide to focus on the happy, our lives will be happy. And if we strive to be an angel for someone else, chances are, someone will be an angel for you when you most need it and least expect it.
We love you Carter! Merry Christmas!
(I can’t wait to surprise this man, and stop by with Carter for Family Home Evening)!! Hopefully I’ll get a picture for you! Here is a picture taken when Carter was just a baby! So cute!!
Re post and link to this post if you want to help get more help for Carter! Thank you!
